4 Days Mount Elgon Hiking Safari

After an early breakfast, you will depart at 05:00 hrs for Eastern Uganda. The journey takes you through Jinja, Iganga, Tirinyi, and the vast sugarcane plantations of Kakira, with beautiful views of rolling hills as you approach Mbale town.

You will stop for lunch in Mbale, then proceed on the Kapchorwa road with Mt. Elgon rising beautifully in the background. Upon arrival at the Park Headquarters in Budadiri, you will meet your guides and porters and begin your hike via the Sipi Trail.

Your first highlight is the Majestic Sipi Falls—a perfect spot for photos and relaxation. Set up your tent, enjoy the cool mountain breeze, prepare a simple dinner, and spend the night under the stars.

Wake up early for breakfast at 06:00 hrs and begin the climb on the Sasa–Sipi Trail, the most popular route leading to Wagagai Peak.

The trail offers a rewarding challenge as you ascend through bamboo forest, montane vegetation, and open moorland. You will pass Maude Cave and continue toward the upper slopes. Depending on pace and weather, you will camp at Kajeri, Mude Camp, or higher up if conditions allow.

Dinner and overnight in tents.

After breakfast at 06:00 hrs, continue your ascent toward the summit. You will traverse stunning landscapes filled with giant Lobelia Elgonensis, volcanic calderas, hot springs, and the impressive Suam Gorge. Expect sightings of unique flora and mountain bird species.

Enjoy lunch at Suam Camp before the final push to Wagagai Peak (4,321m). From the summit, take in spectacular views of the mountain slopes, surrounding communities, and—on clear days—the plains of Kenya. This moment is truly unforgettable.

After celebrating the peak, descend via Jackson Summit and continue to Mude Camp for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy breakfast and begin your descent through the Sasa Trail back to the Budadiri Visitor Centre, where your vehicle will be waiting.

You’ll proceed to Mbale for lunch and later drive back to Jinja, arriving in the evening. If you have a flight, we shall connect you to your lodge or directly to the airport.

We close your safari while leaving you with beautiful memories of Mount Elgon, its people, and its breathtaking landscapes.
