Overview

This short but rewarding 2-day safari to Lake Mburo National Park offers a unique wildlife experience in Uganda’s smallest savannah park. Lake Mburo is blessed with more than five lakes, scenic rolling hills, acacia woodlands, and a rich variety of wildlife.

Expect sightings of zebras, impalas, elands, warthogs, hippos, and a variety of birdlife. With both an evening and morning game drive, plus a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Mburo, this safari is perfect for travelers with limited time but a desire for authentic wildlife encounters.

Day 01 :

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park & Evening Game Drive

Your Samuwa Adventure Safaris driver-guide will pick you up from your place of accommodation for a short briefing before starting the journey. We aim to leave early enough to beat Kampala’s heavy morning traffic and enjoy a smooth drive.

Your trip south begins with a stop at the Equator, where you can take photos, grab a cup of coffee, and—if time allows—watch the famous water experiment demonstrating the Earth’s hemispheres.

The journey continues through beautiful countryside filled with banana plantations, coffee farms, cassava fields, and traditional homesteads. The landscape gradually shifts into the elevated plateau of Kyazanga after Masaka.

You will have an en-route lunch before entering Lake Mburo National Park for your evening game drive.
Expect sightings of: Zebras, Impalas, Elands (on a lucky day), Warthogs, Waterbucks and Various bird species

Lake Mburo is the only park in Uganda where zebras and impalas are found in large numbers, and it is the best place to spot eland, the world’s largest antelope.

After the game drive, proceed to your lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight.

Day 02 :

Morning Game Drive & Boat Cruise – Return to Kampala

Start your day with an early breakfast at 05:30hrs. At 06:30hrs, your guide will pick you from the lodge for the morning game drive. A Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger will give you a short briefing about the park before you head out on the drive.

This 2–3 hour game drive offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. You may encounter:, Zebras, Impalas, Elands, Giraffes (in certain parts of the park), Warthogs, Topis, Hippos (near wetland areas) and on a very lucky day — leopard sightings
Lake Mburo also hosts a rich array of bird species, making it a perfect stop for bird enthusiasts.

After the drive, return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch.

Boat Cruise on Lake Mburo

In the afternoon, head to the lake for a peaceful boat ride. Expect to watch hippos wallowing, crocodiles basking on the shores, and numerous water birds such as: Pied kingfishers, African fish eagles, Pygmy kingfishers, Cormorants and Herons.

After the boat cruise, your driver will meet you and take you through the last game viewing tracks as you exit the park.

Begin your return journey to Kampala or your preferred drop-off location, arriving with beautiful memories of your Lake Mburo adventure.
